“I can sum my overall experience with FleetTraks up in 3 words, “Peace of Mind”” says Carol Acevedo, owner of ABC Medical & Oxygen. “I have been in the HME industry for many years and have a lot of experience dealing with drivers. FleetTraks makes our drivers accountable for their time. As result our drivers are more productive and definitely back in faster. They now reload and go back out to make additional deliveries or help in our store. Financially that helps in two ways. We are delivering more equipment with the same amount of trucks. Additionally our retail sales are up because our drivers are back in earlier and can spend time with retail customers during peak periods. All these benefits and our overtime has been reduced to next to nothing.

 

In the past we had drivers that were gone for the day. We tried two different phone based GPS systems and they did not work. We found that when drivers did not want to be tracked that they just turned the phones off. After we put FleetTraks in, we found a driver using our box truck that gets 8 miles per gallon as his personal car for doing errands. We stopped that immediately.

 

The numbers of miles that we travel are certainly down. Our drivers are taking more direct routes. Customer service can see who is closest to the hospital and dispatch the correct truck resulting in fewer miles. In the past, we crisscrossed frequently. The elimination of personal use of our vehicles has also reduced miles.

 

Three additional benefits that we were not expecting are better customer service, reduced office tension and accreditation help.

 

We now spend our time on the phone with our customers and referral sources rather than scrambling. A change can be handled correctly with 1 call rather than many.

 

Our CSR’s now have an increased level of respect for our drivers. CSR’s see how hard that the drivers are working and respect their efforts. That has lead to reduced tension around the office.

 

The system also helped us with our recent accreditation. We were able to show the auditor how we controlled our deliveries and payroll
