“We have seen a definite increase in productivity. The main reason is that our drivers are now accountable for their time” says Tom Griffore Operations Manager at Airway Oxygen. “Now that our drivers are accountable for their performance while away from the office, we are seeing them back in faster from delivery runs. They are spending less time at stops and taking more direct routes between deliveries and back to the warehouse.

 

At Airway, we have always felt and still do believe that we have a great team of drivers.  FleetTraks™ has allowed us to discover some areas where our team of drivers needed some supervision that we were unable to provide without GPS. Using FleetTraks as a training tool, we use the system to point out inefficiencies to our drivers. Due to the fact that they are accountable for their time, we see an immediate change of their performance, typically the day after they are called on the carpet.

 

This new level of level of supervision has allowed Airway to:

 

  1. Decrease our delivery van miles travelled by 12.5%

  2. Decrease our overtime by 29 %

  3. Provide a faster response to new oxygen orders.

 

Our customers are happier because we are providing better customer service. Our drivers are also happy with the system because the new efficiencies allow them to end their day faster and not be forced to work overtime.

 

In addition, we are now routing the drivers better because we have visibility to the entire fleet. We are able to pick the closest driver to handle a change. In the past we were forced to respond with a warehouse person to handle critical deliveries. 

 

The FleetTraks reports have also been very beneficial.  We use them to determine verify which drivers are not out of the door on time in the mornings. We also run GPS reports by customer so we can properly balance the number of tanks on hand at a customer’s house. We can also track orders per referral. This is very useful for our sales staff.

 

All in all the FleetTraks GPS system has been a very positive experience for our company. It paid for itself quickly, saved us money, made us a more efficient operation and made our customers and drivers happier. It has been a huge plus for Airway.”
