“Our single largest benefit gained as a result of the installation of FleetTraks GPS is the elimination of our driver’s personal use of our company vehicles while on the clock” says Jerry Gallegos, Operations Manager at Med Equip Medical Rentals. “When we implemented the system, we decided that we would install the GPS units and not tell our drivers right away. We wanted to see what was really happening while they were away from the warehouse. In the very first week, we discovered eye openers with 3 of our 4 drivers. We found unauthorized activities including running errands, visiting family and going shopping at the mall. After we were satisfied that we knew what was really happening, we called them in for individual meetings and corrected their activities. Once we did, we saw the immediate elimination of unauthorized activity. With the elimination of personal use we are saving $ 240.00 per driver per month. Our drivers are now back in faster and we did not have to hire an extra part-timer to handle warehouse duties.

 

We have also seen a dramatic decrease in our miles travelled resulting in a decrease of gas purchases and vehicle expenses. We are now routing our drivers much better and they are taking more efficient routes. With driver accountability and better routes, we are able to complete more deliveries in a given day. This allows us to utilize smaller more fuel efficient vehicles to perform the clean up work.

 

We have also seen a deliveries occur faster, with better customers service. Some of our runs are as many as 500 miles. We now have the visibility to be able to confidently tell our customers when to expect their deliveries.

 

Given all of the efficiencies that we have gained, we can confidently say that FleetTraks has paid for itself in the first month.”
